Running Accomplishments:

My highlight out of so far was probably the 3200. It was long, and fun.

Short-Term Running Goals:

beat my mile time by at least five seconds next meet.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Practice hard at the 3200, I really enjoyed it a lot.

Personal:

I was on swim team, and had nothing to do after the season ended, so someone else on the swim team who does long distance convinced me to do track. I jsut had my first meet, and loved running the 3200.

Did a one mile warm up,and then 6 flying 50s. After every two laps, at the 50 yard mark, you would sprint until you got to the end zone. Then you would do an easy two laps, until you got to the 50 yard mark again. We did this six times, for a total of three miles.

We were supposed to run around for 45 minutes, while staying on the school grounds. So we all decided to play tag, but you had to keep moving the whole time. (I was "it" first) I finally tagged someone after running around for the first 15 minutes, but at the end, we did'nt really know who was it, so we all just ran away whenever we saw someone.

I don't know exactly the distance I ran, but it was probably four miles or so. We did a two mile warm up, running a circle around Alta called the "lower loop". We then did ten stadiums, which is where you run up and down one of the bleacher stairs ten times. Ran four laps easy (1 mile), and following, another ten stadiums. Then one lap easy, and a 400 Meter sprint. Coah Murphy timed us, and I ended up going a 1:13. I guess you could say that was my first race, and it felt very strange. It literally felt like eternity. My arms, legs and core felt a little strange. After the end, I just ended up walking the last easy lap. Man, I really need to get into shape.

Hey Nice job Clayton! My first 400 as a freshman was a 76! That was without the stadiums! You are well on your way to being a great runner! Don't give up, you will get there! Good work! See you tomorrow morning hopefully!

Hey, thanks guys.

1:13 is not bad at all. You should be happy with that.

And you ARE getting in shape!

Thanks Coach, I will keep working at it.

We started off with two laps of the lower loop (2 miles), and then did 4 flying 100s, jogging an easy 300 meters in between them. Then we ended off with 4 laps easy for a total of six miles.

First Track meet today!!!! It was so tiring, but so much fun!!! I ran the 800m, the 1600m, and the 3200m. I am really glad that I did distance, because I felt like the 3200m was my race. I felt that I did pretty good on the 800m and the 1600m, but I felt that the 3200m was really great, and that I did really good at it. I am glad I did it, and I will keep working at the 3200

800- 2:44.21 (8th place out of 16)

1600-5:55.21 (12th place out of 25)

3200-14:39.11 (7th place out of 8)

Just did a 30 minute recovery run today, because we had our first meet yesterday. I did not want to run (jsut one of those days), but felt good after running. It really bugs the crap out of me, I can't see my race times on my computer because it doesnt have the right "software". So I will have to figure it out.

First off, we did a 4 lap warmup around the track. Then we did 6X200m at our 400m race pace (with a 200m jog inbetween), I was going about 35 seconds average for every one, which is pretty good I guess. Then a 15 minute cooldown where we just jogged around the track about...maybe five times.

ran to the gully by 24 hour fitness, did 6 uphill sprints in the gully, and then jogged back to alta. It was really hot today, I hope it is not going to be like that anytime soon.

Good job! You should put it as more like 3-4 miles.

Actually that's closer to five miles when you figure in the group warm-up.

Thanks coach, I had not thought of that. Every mile counts!

I really enjoyed todays workout. We did a mile warm up around the track, jumping into our workout. For the workout, we did eight flying 40s with a two lap recovery. It started raining/snowing at the last lap, and it felt really nice. I can't wait untill the next meet.

Holy crap. I did my first Best Buy loop today, which is six and a half miles. Me and Haven Le Mon fell behind the varsity runners, and instead of running up a hundred and tenth, we ran up a hundred and sixteenth, resulting in an extra mile. I am so tired right now, I feel like doing nothing. But, I guess it was kind of fun.

ughghughughugh. I feel so crappy today, but still did the workout. First we did the lower loop for a warm up (2 miles). Then we did 6 uphill sprints. The hill was soooooo long. It went form Alta, up to 1300.  But you want to know the hardest part of the workout? It was the cooldown. I was just done for the day, but we still had to do a mile cooldown. I am hoping to feel better tomorrow.

Today was so awesome! We went to the gully by 24 hour fitness, and played tag. Except, in this version, when you are tagged, you just join the person who is it, until there is one person left. We all just ended up being it, and were just running around looking for Reed who was the only one not it. It was way fun!

Its been a long time scince I have ran! Today we ran 4 miles (twice around the lowe loop), and then we did 4 striders. Even though it was easy, I feel out of it, and really tired.

Today I ran the 3200, and dropped 2 minutes! It was a really fun race, and it is sad to me that we only have one meet left. I will still continue running on my own in the summer though. Our meet was against copper hills.

Me, Mike, Chandler, and Zach all ran in the gully together today. It was really fun because on the way we found a geochache. So that concludes my workout for today.

Today's workout was very tiring. We did a mile warmup, 5x100 meters, then a three lap cooldown. There is one thing I have noticed though, most of the JV have left halfway into the season. This is too bad because I feel like I am so much more in shape compared to the beginning of the season.

Well, we started off with a mile warmup. Then we did 3x800s at our fastest pace. Every 800 we did, we would jog/mostly walk a lap of recovery. Then I did two laps cooldown. Here are my split times just for fun.

1st 800: 2:57

2nd 800: 3:02

3rd 800: 2:57

As you can see, I really paced my second lap, but those things were killer, and I just had to. It was a lot of fun though, and I can probably expect a recovery day tomorrow.
